Gregory Malcome Paul Watson, 32, of Seattle, Washington, passed away at his home Friday, October 19, 2012. Greg was born on February 11, 1980 in Edmonton, Alberta and grew up on the family farm in Blue Ridge, Alberta. He later moved to Ephrata, Washington where he graduated high school in 1998. In the spring of 1999 he joined the United States Army Reserves. In the fall of 1999 he returned from basic training and enrolled in the graphic arts program at the Art Institute of Seattle. He was blessed with the light of his life, his son, Zachary, in April of 2001. His unit was stationed out of Spokane, Washington and in the fall of 2003 he was sent to Fort Hood, Texas to be a part of the First Platoon HHC 980th EN BN. He returned home in the spring of 2005 after a one year tour in Iraq. He received an Honorable Discharge in April of 2007. The last five years Greg lived in the city he grew to love and call his home – Seattle. On July 29, 2012 he married Stephanie Gonzales and looked forward to starting their lives together. Greg loved playing bass guitar, drawing and painting, making people laugh, and giving hugs. He was a loving father, son, husband, brother, and friend. He will be truly missed. He is survived by his son, Zachary Thomas Watson of Seattle, Wash.; wife, Stephanie of Seattle, Wash.; stepdaughter, Chloe Perez, and stepson, Chase Perez of Seattle, Wash.; his parents – Cyndi and David Ray of Ephrata, Wash.; Ame and Lise Watson of Blue Ridge, Alberta; stepdad, Rex Barnett of Ephrata, Wash.; brothers – Jesse, Mackenzie and Tyler Watson of Blue Ridge, Alberta; sister, Amy Vollmin and her husband, Rob, and their children, Logan and Brody of Edmonton, Alberta; stepsisters, Rachelle Ray, Amanda Ray, her two sons Gabrielle and Ivo of Mt. Vernon, Wash.; maternal grandmother, Janette Lambert of Grand Prairie, Alberta; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his cousin, Paul; maternal grandfather; paternal grandparents; and uncles, Frank, Dwight and Clarence. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Bethlehem Chapel Assembly of God Church, 612 Third Ave. SE, in Ephrata and an Honor Guard service at the American Legion Post 28, 276 8th Ave. N.W., Ephrata at 2:30 p.m., with a luncheon to follow.
