Joy Virginia Wyman

Joy Virginia Wyman August 4, 1940 – December 31, 2022 Joy was born in Aurora, Illinois to Burness and Bernice Myers. She was the oldest of 4 children. She was named Joy as she was the “joy of her father’s eyes” – at least that is what she always said. Joy grew up in several states, IL, MN, AZ, SD and WA and ended up graduating from Quincy High School in 1958. In October of that year, she married Lewis M. Wyman. On April 1, 1960 they bought a home in Ephrata. At this Lane was the only child. Later came Jeff, Kimberley and Debra. Mom moved a lot so she always swore us kids wouldn’t, hence still same house since 1969!! Mom soon became “Auntie Joy’ and a 2nd mom to the whole neighborhood. Joy was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ephrata where over the years she: Taught Sunday School, VBS, Member and officer of the Women’s Luther League, sang in the choir and much more. Mom loved working for the Ephrata School District. She started out volunteering and being room mother for us 4 kids and even at the same time some years. She then got hired on in 1971 and continued on until 2005 when she retired. She loved the kids and tried very hard to know them all by name. Along with working at the schools, she also was a Cub Scout leader, Campfire Leader, loved doing crafts and bazaars with her mom. She was a member of Buzzin Dozen homemakers and enjoyed the life long friends she made. Mom supported us in all that we did and was great at making cookies for all our teams. Crocheting and Quilting was another passion and she made each one of her grandchildren beautiful memory quilts!! For fun, Joy and Lewis along with their great friends, Bob & Lorene Arbuckle, John & Margaret Moritz and Steve & Regina Metcalf had great trips to Reno. Oh, the stories! Joy is proceeded in death by her parents, brother Bill Myers, Sister Judi Treutle, daughter Kim and grandson Nicholas. Survived by husband Lewis of 64 years, son Lane (Terri), son Jeff (Teresa) daughter Debra. Grandchildren: Luke (Ashley) Wyman, Jessika Wyman, Ayla (Chad) Ecalbarger, James Wyman, Colt Trumble. Brother Jack (Mary) Myers, Sister-in-law Della Myers, brother-in-law Jim Treutle, along with many nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to Nurses and staff at McKay Nursing Home. We really appreciate the care and love that you showed Joy!!! Memorial Services will be January 28, 2023 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ephrata at 11:00 am. 471 Nat Washington Way, Ephrata, WA.
