Keith Alfred Hagglund

Keith Alfred Hagglund, age 89, passed away peacefully in Moses Lake, Washington, on June 27, 2026, after a long journey with dementia. He was born on December 7, 1936, in Everett, Washington, to Alfred and Etta Hagglund. Keith grew up on South Lake Stevens Road and attended Fobes Elementary before graduating from Snohomish High School in 1955. He proudly served in the United States Army for two years. Keith worked as a mechanic at Walsh Platt Pontiac in Everett and Cal Kinney Ford in Arlington before retiring from Boeing in 1999. He also dedicated 18 years to the Lake Stevens Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, serving as both Captain and Chief. In addition, he spent five years as the department's paid mechanic. During those years, he formed many lifelong friendships with fellow firefighters and their families. Known for his strong work ethic, Keith rarely sat still. He spent many weekends bulldozing and clearing land with his business partner, Sleepy, or logging alongside his friend Charlie. He also coached Lake Stevens Little League baseball during the 1970s, sharing his love of the game with local youth. In 2004, Keith moved to Eastern Washington, first to Omak and later to Soap Lake, where he lived next door to one of his longtime Lake Stevens firefighter friends and his brother. He became deeply involved in the Soap Lake community, volunteering at the Soap Lake Food Bank and helping collect food throughout Grant County. He was an active member of the Garden Club, helped build the Soap Lake Sundial, worked to help facilitate the return of the Colville Tribes to Soap Lake, and faithfully served four years on the Soap Lake City Council. Keith loved fishing, hunting, and camping throughout his life, making countless memories with family and friends. He especially looked forward to the annual Hagglund family reunions on Whidbey Island. Above all, Keith was known as a kind & caring man who loved his family, treasured his friendships, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His kindness and quiet strength touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Keith is survived by his daughter, Jonell; stepchildren Kiannaa, Lorrie, Julie, Bryan, and Jeff; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Etta; his beloved wife, Mary; his sister, JoAnne; his brothers, Robert and Lynne; his daughter, Coral; his son, Jef; and his great-grandson, Evan. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Penny's Family Adult Home and everyone who compassionately cared for Keith during his final years.
