Sharon Mae Spofford

Sharon Spofford, passed away at home on May 21st, 2023 to join her Mom, Dad, and sister. Sharon was born to Lois Lorraine and Alan Rood on June 13, 1943 in Clearfield, Iowa. In the early 50’s she moved with her folks to central Washington. After a couple of years in Coulee City she began attending Ephrata schools. She graduated from Ephrata High School in 1961. After graduating from Ephrata High, Sharon attended a business school in Spokane, WA. This led her to various financial activities such as a teller at Security Bank in Ephrata, Branch manager of Washington Mutual in Quincy, WA and teller at Chase bank in Ephrata. Her career led to various book keeping jobs in the Ephrata area as well as in Vancouver, WA. Tom and Sharon were married 1983 in Ephrata, celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary six weeks prior to her passing. After 10 years of marriage Tom moved her to Vancouver, WA and 7 years later moved her to Washington DC. In 2003 they felt it was time to get back to their roots and returned to Soap Lake, WA to be close to family and friends. Sharon touched so many lives in so many ways. She was a supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, cousin, aunt, as well as sister to her older brother; Many found Sharon to be an amazing host, friend, and golfer. Most will remember Sharon for her sports enthusiasm and support. If home, she never missed a local Ephrata Tiger event that her son, daughter or grandchildren were participating in, Tiger Proud all the way. After a Tiger career she adopted the Seattle Sea Hawks. Her group of Seahawk ladies were known to clear the club house with their quiet vocal activity while watching games. Sharon and Tom saw much of our country and history through the years. Her favorite break away was the Oregon coast and northern Nevada. Of all the historic sites and parks visited throughout the nation her favorite was Bryce Canyon in Utah. She leaves behind brother Jim Rood (Rosemary), Largo, FL; son Mike Beavers (Traci), Ephrata; Lori Davis, Yakima; Amy Kaizerman, Salem, OR, and Cory Voss (Mark) Princeton, ID; as well as 8 grandchildren and two great grand children The family has decided that instead of a service we will be holding a Celebration of Life, likely around the end of July. Heaven has a new Angel and Saint.
