    Curtis Howard Weisell

    April 29, 1925 - June 8, 2016

Curtis (Curt) H. Weisell, 91, died in Wenatchee on June 8, 2016. He was born April 29, 1925 in Laredo, Texas, the second of Tennyson and Maria (Perez) Weisell’s five children. The family lived in a variety of places, including the Philippines, before settling in Port Townsend in 1940. He graduated from high school early, and in November 1943, joined the Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet Program for training as a flight engineer on B-29 bombers. Upon discharge, he returned to Port Townsend and worked at the local paper mill for nearly a year. He then enrolled at the University of Washington in 1946, graduating with his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1950. He joined the US Naval Reserve in 1951, and served in the Civil Engineering Corps until August 1967, having advanced to the rank of Lieutenant. He worked as a construction engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation, and was involved with various projects in Royal City, WA, Austin, TX, Page, AZ, and Ephrata, WA. He retired after more than 36 years of federal service. He married Pauline Heer in Ephrata in 1951, and they raised two children (as well as a number of energetic pugs). They had been married for 57 years when Pauline died in 2009. Curt had a deep faith in God, and an abiding love for his family, including his two granddaughters. He was an accomplished golfer and fisherman, a masterful bridge player, an avid Texas and Husky fan, and he took delight in growing beautiful roses for Pauline. Curt had a generous and compassionate heart. If you would like to honor his memory, please consider a donation in his name to World Vision or Samaritan’s Purse. A graveside service will be held at 11am at Valley View Memorial Park in Soap Lake on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at Saddlerock Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1400 S Miller St, Wenatchee, Wa. Arrangements for a service commemorating this life and celebrating his new life are being handled by Nicoles Funeral Home.
