Ernest William Pound, 86, of Ephrata, Washington, passed away at his home on September 5, 2020. He was born on July 5, 1934 in Rose, Oklahoma to Delbert and Edrie Pound. Ernie graduated High School in Moses Lake. After graduation he started to work in the auto body repair trade. He was drafted in March of 1957 and served 3 years with the US Army. He was stationed at Fort Lewis with the HQ & HQ Co 14th Transportation Battalion. Also during his time in service, he was assigned to the Rifle Squad where they competed in shooting competitions with other units. After his Honorable Discharge he returned to the Ephrata area to continue his love of auto body work. After several years of enjoying the bachelor life, he met and married Echo Pound in 1972. They were married 42 years, until her death in 2016. Ernie enjoyed going to the casino, loved to read anything about History, especially the Pacific North West region. He also loved when people came to visit, family and friends were always greeted with a big smile and maybe some chocolate. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon (Bob) Shepard of Emmitt Idaho, son- Keven (Melinda) Steiner of Wenatchee Wa, Sister – Dorris Martin of Priest River Idaho, Brother – Mel Pound of Priest River Idaho. He had 4 grandkids, Jacquie Youngers, Mathew Youngers both of Emmitt Idaho, Shayla Melenberger of Leavenworth, Wa and Kylie Tilton on Ellensburg, Wa. He had 9 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Ernie was proceeded in death by his wife Echo, parents Delbert and Edrie Pound and his brother Bob Blackburn.
