Peter Anderson

Pete was born in London, England on December 16, 1925 to parents William Kenneth Anderson and wife Olive. The family moved to the Pacific Northwest where William built roads in the area. In the late 1930s Peter’s family settled in Wilson Creek, Washington where Pete and his two brothers “Bill” and Ken went to school. Pete loved playing basketball. He graduated in 1944 and immediately enlisted and went off into the U.S. Army. He was trained as a Heavy Machine Gunner at Camp Roberts. After basic training he was sent to Germany and Central Europe during WWII. There he earned the Army of Occupation Medal, Service Medal of Good Conduct and the Victory Medal. He was Honorably Discharged in June of 1946. Pete returned to Wilson Creek, joined the Army Reserves and was called back to service in 1949. He was a drill instructor until October of 1952. Again he returned to Wilson Creek and became manager of Wilson Creek Grain Supply. He married Dorothy Reigh Payne in 1953. She brought two children to the marriage, Pete’s stepchildren, McEwen Walters and Susan Walters. In 1955 their son Peter Ray Anderson was born. Pete later changed jobs and worked for many years for the Wilson Creek Union Grain and Trading Company. He worked at the elevator in Stratford many, many harvest seasons. Pete continued to work until he was 70 years old. Pete is survived by stepson, “Bucky” Walters; stepdaughter, Susan Timm and her three children; Pete’s 14 stepgrandkids; Pete’s son, Peter Ray Anderson; his four children and their children; Pete’s eight grandkids. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in 1984; his brothers, “Bill” Anderson and Ken Anderson.
