    Richard Leroy Grubb

    June 21, 1959 - March 19, 2021

    Richard Leroy Grubb, 61, of Ephrata, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 19, 2021 into the arms of his Savior. Richard Grubb was born to Merle (Bud) and Joanne Grubb in Ephrata, WA. He graduated from Ephrata High school and was involved in football and track. He received an AA from Wenatchee Community College, and began working for the Grant County Maintenance Dept. He retired from Washington State Department of Transportation in 2016. He also trucked apples during harvest for Pheasant Orchards. He married his high school sweetheart Sheryl Hanson and had two sons, Justin and Jared Grubb. In 1999 he married Darla Wash and gained three more sons, Chris, Jared and Nathan Wash. In his early years, he loved doing fun runs and won awards for playing badminton. He was very active in the Ephrata soccer community officiating and coaching his sons teams. He loved fishing, watching sporting events of his grandchildren, nieces and nephews and playing games with them. He was an avid card player with his friends and family. He was known for making the best baked beans and breakfast burritos. He looked forward to hosting morning coffee every day with family. He always had English Springer at his side. He was a loyal member of the Ephrata Community Church and a faithful son of Christ and enjoyed his bible study groups. During his final years, he battled with Parkinson’s. People will always remember Rick by his mischievous smile, his contagious laugh, and his love of poptarts without frosting. He was a man of few words, but lived by example. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Joanne Grubb, and granddaughter Audrey Grubb. He is survived by his wife Darla Grubb of 21 years and his five sons –Justin (Elizabeth) Grubb, Chris (Caitlyn) Wash, Jared (Emilie) Grubb, Jared (Kelsey) Wash, Nathan (Emili) Wash. He made many memories with his 8 grandchildren- - Audrey Grubb (d.), Aubrey Nearing, Zoie Grubb, Kolby Nearing, Richard Grubb, Brynlee Wash, Everly Wash, Brooklyn Wash. If desired, memorials may be given to the Community Church of Ephrata – Mercy Fund, 54 K St SE, Ephrata, WA 98823. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 26th, at 10:00am at the Ephrata Cemetery followed by a celebration of life for family and friends.
