    Shirley Ann Heer

    July 30, 1926 - January 30, 2014

    Shirley Ann (Olson) Heer, 87, of Ephrata, Wash. passed away Thursday January 30, 2014 at Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata, WA. She was born July 30, 1926 to Anton and Irene Olson in Newport, Wash. Shirley graduated from North Central High School in Spokane in 1944. She attended Holy Names College in Spokane, Wash., and Washington State University. After college she moved to Moses Lake, Wash. where she worked at the local Radio Station K.U.L.E as an announcer. Shortly after, in 1949 she met and Married her husband, Harvey L. Heer. Harvey & Shirley made their home in Ephrata, and began their family. They moved with their 5 children to their wheat Farm Northwest of Ephrata in 1962 where she resided for 50 years. Shirley was active throughout the years in PTO, a Grange member since 1955, March of Dimes for 18 years, Grant County Mental Health Board 12 years, and Crisis Line 10 years. She earned her Ham radio license (N7XGL) in 1992 and was a member of the North Central Amateur radio club. She became involved and thoroughly enjoyed her many friends and socializing in Stitch & Chatter Club since 1963, and Sage Hens since 1975 where she remained active until her death. Some of her other interest throughout the years were, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch embroidery, camping and snowmobiling. Her faith was very important to her and she was an active member in the Community Church of Ephrata for many years. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harvey L. Heer of Ephrata, Daughter Gayle (Chris) Corativo, of Spokane, Wash., Son Rick (Laree) Heer of Ephrata, Son Ron Heer of Ephrata, Wash., Daughter LuAnn (Bill) Heer-Weisgerber of Cheney, Wash., Daughter Dianne (John) Kliphardt of Ephrata, Wash., 14 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. Services will be held at the Community Church of Ephrata on Sunday February 9, 2014. Viewing will be at the Church from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm, with the service to immediately follow.
