Jennie Lucille Edwards

Jennie Lucille (Long) Edwards entered her eternal home on August 27, 2025, at the age of 87. Up to the time of her passing, she remained joyful, loving and hopeful. She overcame many medical obstacles in a multitude of miraculous ways, always pressing through with perseverance and faith. Her heavenly Father ushered her home after an unexpected fall and resulting injuries. Jennie lived a beautiful life, full of love and devotion to God and to her family, love of nature and love of animals, especially family pets and a fondness for wolves, of which she had many special keepsakes given to her. She enjoyed family BBQs, camping, road trips and a good cup of coffee. She would reminisce of her childhood in Coulee City and the surrounding countryside, where she and her brothers would play in the fields, running, climbing trees, riding bikes and making forts. She was “Daddy’s girl” and adored her father, Cecil Long, who preceded her in death, as did her mother, Pearl (Shaver) Long, and her elder brother, Ed Long. Her brother, Charles Long, has remained a constant friend and support, and his wife, Lois, the loving sister Jennie always wanted. She met the love of her life, Carl Edwards, in Coulee City, WA, while attending church. They had a whirlwind love and were married on her 18th birthday, March 20, 1956. They moved to Seattle, and ultimately settled in Spokane, WA. Jennie encapsulated the term “loving mother” and cherished her children. Carl and Jennie had six children, Ameana L. Edwards, Wayne B. Edwards, Edna M. (Angel) Edwards, George W. Edwards, Vern R. Edwards and Deborah A. Edwards. Ameana preceded them to heaven in 1957. They welcomed three grandchildren, Wayne Edwards Jr, Sara Stelzer and Julia Shaw, and one step granddaughter, Yvonne Newberry. Great grandchildren brought incredible joy, and Jennie’s love as a grandmother and great grandmother was unsurpassed. Carl remained Jennie’s best friend until he was called home in 2013. He was a Korean War Air Force veteran, a Boeing jet mechanic and an ordained minister and author. Jennie was the sole owner and operator of a residential cleaning business for many years. Her clients called her a friend, and many counted her an honorary family member. Jennie was loved by all who knew her. Jennie lived and breathed love. Her kindness, gentleness, laughter and joy expressed the Spirit of Christ she embodied. She taught her family what unconditional love really looked like and how it felt: a warm gentle hug, an “I love you” at the end of every call and before every sleep, special birthday surprises, thoughtful Christmas celebrations and times when she would laugh until she cried with such pure joy. Jennie’s beauty was a warm light of love and tenderness that filled her home and touched every heart. Eternity is blessed to have her, and her family is heartbroken to lose her, but we know we will see her again in our heavenly home. A graveside service will be held on Sept. 9, 2025, at 2:00pm, at the Valley Memorial Park in Soap Lake, WA.
