Linda Mae Evans

Linda Mae (Taplett) Evans, age 71, passed away peacefully August 10th at her home in Ephrata. Born in Seattle, Washington Linda was raised with her brother in Wenatchee by her parents Ervin and Elizabeth Taplett. She grew up with a great apple orchard as her backyard and the family orchard business instilled in her the hard work, duty and constant care she was known for throughout her life. Following graduation from Wenatchee Valley High School, she married Larry Wayne Evans at the age of nineteen. Her husband's naval career took her to Washington D.C where her eldest son, Anthony was born. A few years later they settled in Charleston, West Virginia where Linda gave birth to another son, Derek. Not long after, she returned to her home state where her daughter, Brandi, was born in Wenatchee. Linda raised her three children in Ephrata while working at the Public Utility District for close to 30 years. Her co-workers were like a second family and brought her great joy. Linda will be remembered as a dependable, efficient worker and a trusted friend. After many years of service, Linda retired early and settled down to support her children and grandchildren faithfully. Her family was the light of her life and the center of her attention. She was especially delighted by her five grandchildren and loved to hear about all their sports and what was happening at school. Her meticulous house and garden reflected the tremendous devotion and love within her. Not a fan of flying, Linda didn’t travel as much as she would have liked, but the trips she took both far and near created lasting memories she reflected on warmly in her last years. The excursion that made the most impact was a group trip to Europe with her daughter and Ephrata friends. Outside of her comfort zone at times, but also blissfully happy, she marveled at the world she saw and learned how much she loved her small town of Ephrata. She often said she would like seeing more of the world, but Ephrata suited her fine. Forever proud of her small town and her family, it is a blessing she passed peacefully in her own home with those she loved nearby. Linda will be remembered for her strength, generosity, and devotion to family and friends. She is survived by two children, Anthony Evans of Ephrata, Washington, and Brandi Faith of Sammamish, Washington, and five grandchildren: Ian, Anthony, Derek, Aaron, Hailey.
